Setting Up A Website in 3 Easy Steps
Step 1 – The Domain Name
Figure out your domain name. Your domain name is your unique and personal address. Our domain name for example is http://www.TheSesameHouse.com.
The domain name you want may be taken, but don’t be discouraged. You may have to try a few domain names to get one that is available. You can also choose different domain extensions. Domain extensions are the end part of the domain name. Most websites end in .com but you can also choose .net, .org, .ca, .us… etc.
TIP. Choose a domain name that relates to what you want your website to be about. Our company name is The Sesame House which is why we choose this domain.
Step 2 – The Host
The host is where you store all your website information. All of the information that you want to put on your website will be uploaded onto your host server. This is how your website will become visible on the Internet for everyone to see.
Keep in mind that all websites require a host. Without a host, you will only have an address! We recommend and use Bluehost. They are cheap, user friendly and great for beginners. You also get your first domain name for FREE.
